THE WATCHERS

Original Watercolor by artist Nancy Phelps of Lompoc, California

...."On this sacred night I will tell of many great things, of battles won, of seasons past, of sadness and joy, of beauty in the ways of our People.".......from The Grandfather Legacy

Nancy's original watercolor was translated into counted cross stitch....the framed finished project is one of my most treasured pieces; I really enjoyed stitching this one.......

I SAW A CROW THIS MORNING.....

..............as I went out to garden in between showers....He saw me first! and he watched..and when I looked his way he began calling out the first of his greetings....I returned his morning cheer....A good way to start the day.....turns out it's a very good way to start any day!

Did you know that according to Native American Crow Mythology that "many people are under the mistaken impression the crows were viewed as harbingers of death in Native American cultures, but in fact, that is not true at all. We do not know of any Native American tribes which crows were seen as omens of death. Indeed, just the opposite, seeing a crow was (and still is!) considered good luck by many tribes."  resource: Native American Encyclopedia

FALL IS IN THE AIR!!

....an October Sunday morning.......about 9:30

It's so beautiful today! and warm too! ...a Fall day kind of warm....    The little park is the kayakers launching site into the River......The old trestle bridge was once a railway for the logging industry in the Canyon...you can see it's now a peaceful walkway and a good place to stop and daydream...........  : )

RALPH WALDO EMERSON - (1803-1882)  Essayist, lecturer, and poet

"Emerson wrote on a number of subjects, never espousing fixed philosophical tenets, but developing certain ideas such as individuality, freedom, the ability for humankind to realize almost anything, and the relationship between the soul and the surrounding world. Emerson's "nature" was more philosophical than naturalistic. "Philosophically considered, the universe is composed of Nature and Soul."

YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO WHICH WAY THE WIND BLOWS......

Bob Dylan 'Blowin in the Wind'-1962
'The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan' LP

Wikipedia says: The refrain "The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind" has been described as "impenetrably ambiguous: either the answer is so obvious it is right in your face, or the answer is as intangible as the wind."

The Bible says this about the wind and life in John 3:8...."The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where its going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
