AND SO IT BEGINS.....

...dressing in layers, white smoke billowing from the chimney of my neighbor's house. I imagine a well stoked fire in it's place as I turn up the thermostat (and happy to do so!)  Out come the water repellent jackets and boots....... Umbrella..... "at the ready"...... like a magic wand.......the levitation charm...."wingardium leviosa!" UP POPS the domed covering and a lovely walk in the rain becomes a part of the day.............I'm under it's spell     :  )

I was wondering if 'Hermione Granger' would switch out the word umbrella for bumpershoot.....so I looked it up; it's not 'bumpershoot'; it's 'bumbershoot'!....who knew? not me!    : o

Bumbershoot: bumber - (alteration of 'umber' in umbrella) plus - shoot - (alteration of 'chute' as in parachute)

First known use: Circa 1896

Merriam-Webster

and then I came across this....BUMBERSHOOT ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL, SEATTLE, WASHINGTON  (Labor Day Weekend)........who knew??? not me...again! but I know now!   : )

"DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER"

I love Severus Snape! My high school English teacher was my Professor Snape......like Neville Longbottom, I was terrified of Mr. Vincent.......and for good reason too! He could wing a piece of chalk faster than a speeding bullet and hit his target! He was able to appear behind you out of nowhere!.....PAY ATTENTION!............. You can be sure that he taught us Magic!....... Poetry, Potions, and Places beyond the mundane. Too bad it took me all these years to appreciate the lesson and the teacher. I do now.

The mind of J. K. Rowling and the Potter series is astounding to me.

TRIP THE LIGHT FANTASTIC
(but don't trip after hip replacement surgery!)

September 12, 2013

The phrase 'trip the light fantastic' means "To dance, especially in an imaginative or "fantastic manner". It is said to originate from the works of John Milton, 'Comus', 1637. The word has long been used to mean 'dance nimbly'.

It's nearly 3 months to the day since my surgery; with a promising post-op check up yesterday...even so, the 'magic' number seems to be one year. For any of you Baby Boomers or Flower Children who may be facing the choice/necessity of such surgery, I say be prepared to be a patient patient! Do your 'homework' beforehand and without fail, commit to your post-op strengthening exercises daily. Prepare your mind to be aware of your body movements at all times (not unlike a dancer!).

And by all means................DANCE!!

COLLAGE OR COLLISION                                                  Word Art Collage-Pools of Poetry

.....ONE THING LEADS TO ANOTHER?

collage-an assemblage or occurrence of diverse elements or arrangements in unlikely or unexpected juxtaposition.

collision-an encounter between particles resulting in exchange or transformation of energy.

(Miriam-Webster Dictionary)  yes, I really do pull out the book and 'look it up'!)

Someone asked me what my blog site was 'about'....well......it's a 'word' collage, sometimes a collision of thoughts in word, image, and song........a moment in time; past, present, or future.......organized chaos....it's whatever I want it to be.....it's 'about' Me.......and it just IS.....   : )

and then again........it's NOT just about Me; not really.....
